NeFDA Scholarships Awarded
On July 9, 2009, the NeFDA Scholarship Committee met and thanks to the generosity of the late Dorothy E. Swanson and the Nebraska Funeral Directors Association, five Nebraska residents are in the process of earning degrees in Mortuary Science.
The five students are Cody Busekist, Michael Brower, Drew Schaefer, Paula Landen and Paul Seger. All are receiving scholarships through the Dorothy E. Swanson Charitable Trust Student Scholarship Fund awarded by the Nebraska Funeral Directors Association and administered by the KCKCC Endowment Association. The scholarships, which cover tuition and books, have been awarded since 2001.
Available only to Nebraska residents, scholarship recipients must show a desire to pursue a career in mortuary science, meet all pre-mortuary academic requirements of the State of Nebraska and attend KCKCC. Recipients are selected after personal interviews by the NeFDA Scholarship Committee. Present for the interviews were: Craig Draucker, Leo Seger, Donna Hall, Jason Tickle, Tammy Lutz, Jack Horner II, and Jim Lauer, and trustee of the Swanson Trust.
Scholarship Applications
Classified ads involving the sale of equipment, funeral homes, etc. are provided at a cost of $50 per newsletter. Payment and ad copy must be received by the 20th of the month of printing (
2007 issues to be published at the end of March, June, September and December). Ads will run for only one issue unless an extension is requested along with payment.
